Urinary Tract Issues In Old Age

This free video teleconference, jointly sponsored by the AGEC, the GRECC at CAVHS and the Reynolds Institute on Aging at UAMS, requires no participant pre-registration. Attendees to this VTC will receive up to 1.75 hours of CE credits depending on the accrediting board.

Objectives
At the completion of this video teleconference attendees will be able to:

  • Differentiate the various types of urinary incontinence that commonly occur in older adults
  • Outline the basic components of the clinical evaluation of an older adult with urinary incontinence
  • Discuss the various surgical and nonsurgical treatment options for urinary incontinence in elderly patient
  • Describe the main clinical factors associated with nocturia in elderly patients, and treatment options for this condition
  • List the factors associated with urinary tract infections in older adults, and outline the main recommendations for evaluation and treatment of these conditions.

Tomas L. Griebling, MD, FACS, MPH is John P. Wolf 33° Masonic Distinguished Professor of Urology, Vice-Chair – Department of Urology, Faculty Associate – The Landon Center on Aging and Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, at the School of Medicine of The University of Kansas.  Dr. Griebling has completed both a residence in Urology and a Fellowship in Geriatric Reconstructive Urology, Urodynamics and Outcomes Research at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA.
