Synopsis:
This video tape includes the definition of Parkinson’s and Parkinson-Plus syndromes;discussion of clinical red flags; multiple system atrophy; progressive supranuclear palsy; corticobasal ganglionic degeneration; vascular/lower body Parkinson’s; normal pressure hydrocephalus; medications; long term motor complications and possible causes for them; surgical treatment; ablation vs. DBS; falls risk factors, prevention and rehabilitation for patients with neurodegenerative disease;
Objectives:
After completing this video tape, you should be able to:
- Describe the steps in the differential diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease;
- Discuss medical and surgical treatments for Parkinson’s disease; and
- Develop strategies for fall prevention in Parkinson’s and other gait disorders.
