Synopsis:

This video tape includes a discussion of: the etiology and epidemiology of stroke and the impact on health care costs; the different types of stroke and mechanisms involved; risk factors for stroke in older adults and appropriate interventions for the treatment and management of hypertension and stroke.

Objectives:

After seeing this videotape, the viewer should be able to:

  • Describe the etiology and epidemiology of hypertension and specific risks for older adults as it pertains to stroke.
  • Differentiate among stroke mechanisms and different types of stroke.
  • Formulate stroke prevention strategies.
  • Select appropriate interventions for the treatment and management of hypertension and stroke.
