TARGET AUDIENCE

Primary Care, Internal Medicine and Geriatric clinicians, Pharmacists, Advanced-Practice and Registered Nurses, Registered Dietitians, Long Term Care providers, Social Workers, Chaplains, as well as other health professionals will benefit from this course and are encouraged to attend.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  1. Manage the physical, psychological, and social causes of distress in life-limited patients and their families.
  2. Develop practical strategies for introducing discussions of a patient’s end of life care plan.
  3. Cultivate approaches to working with diverse patient populations with different diseases in various settings.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Written notification of cancellation must be postmarked by June 3, 2011, to obtain a partial refund of the registration fee (a $50 administrative fee will be retained). After that date, no refunds will be issued. The Arkansas Geriatric Education Center and the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System reserve the right to cancel this program if there are insufficient registrations. Full refunds will be made in that event. However, Arkansas Geriatric Education Center and the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System are not responsible for any related costs or expenses.

The 1st Annual Hospice and Palliative Care conference will take place at the Wyndham Riverfront located at 2 Riverfront Place in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

LODGING

ARKANSAS QUEEN

A special evening has been planned for Wednesday, June 8th. Please join us on the Arkansas Queen, an elegant three deck replicated sternwheeler. This two hour cruise features a two entrée dinner followed by dancing under the stars. Reservations are required in advanced and transportation will be provided to and from the dock.
