Objectives:
At the completion of this 3 hour conference attendees will be able to:
- Identify older adults at risk for falls;
- Discuss assessment tools used to identify fall risk;
- Identify three risk factors for falls;
- Discuss screening and evaluation tools used in identifying older adults at risk for falls;
- List the consequences of falls in the elderly.

Speakers:
Patrick Kortebein, MD- Dr. Kortebein is the Associate Director for Clinical Programs for the Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center (GRECC) at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System in Little Rock, Arkansas. He is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation/Geriatrics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR.
Mary Watson, MSN, APRN, CNS-BC-Ms. Watson has been in the role of Patient Safety Practitioner for eight years, providing consultation to staff regarding patients at high risk for falls as well as the development and implementation of a comprehensive Fall Prevention Program for the IN and OUT patient ares in teh Centarl Arkansas Vetrans Healthcare system in Little Rock, AR.
Missy Ellis, PT- Ms. Ellis is a certified physical therapist at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System in Little Rock, Arkansas. She is certified in BDT-Neurodevelopment Techniques and by the American Physical Therapy Association.
