Neurological Disease in Older Adults

The target audience includes primary care, internal medicine, family medicine, neurologists, geriatricians, nurses, physical/occupational therapists, social workers, pharmacists, dietitians and other health professionals interested in issues related to new information on neurologic disorders in older adults.
The goal of this program is to update practitioners with timely information on the advances made in understanding the etiologies, and the management of various neurologic disorders common in older adults. At the completion of this program, the attendees should be able to:
This is a one day conference that will address timely issues and advances in the management of a variety of neurological conditions common in older adults. Approaches to the management and treatment of these neurologic conditions will be addressed by experts in the field. As the population ages, more of these conditions may be encountered by healthcare providers. These topics are timely and the speakers are expected to address the most up to date information that will be useful for all clinicians who care for older adults.
These activities have been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine, the GRECC at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System and the Arkansas Geriatric Society. The UAMS College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

This educational activity is provided by the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS). The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by Arkansas Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Participation in this activity provides 5.5 contact hours of continuing nursing education credit.
Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending. Application for CEU’s has also been made for dietitians, pharmacists, nursing home administrators and other disciplines.
