This free educational conference will receive 4.5 contact hours of CE credits depending on the individual discipline.

Purpose:  To provide skills and tools for the healthcare professional to work with terminally ill patients, their families and caregivers in an ethical manner with compassion and understanding while providing quality care.

Objectives:
At the completion of this 4.5-hour conference, the attendees will be able to:

  1. Discuss the main documents needed at the end of life process.
  2. Define family centered end of life nursing care.
  3. Describe how end of life care is implemented by nurses in a variety of settings.
  4. Reflect on the nurse’s role on the health care team in discussing the options for the patient regarding end of life care options.
  5. Project specific nursing interventions that are implemented to promote ethical family centered end of life care.
  6. Address specific concerns of participants in implementing ethical care at end of life.
  7. Define ethical issues in palliative care using case studies.
  8. List the major ethical concerns in palliative care.
